Description
Chinese porcelain blue and white circular box and cover painted overall with an intricate basket weave pattern intertwined with flowers on a blue washed ground, the interior plain, the base with a four-character mark of Xuande in underglaze blue.
5 ¾ inches, 14.1 cm diameter.
Early Kangxi.
Condition
Condition: box base with rim chips restored and inner rim tiny nibble, cover excellent with small brown speckles.

Brushpot, bitong, of cylindrical form painted with the Daoist immortal Lü Dongbin resting on rocks beside two wine jars with a seated willow tree spirit, Liushu Jing, on a fallen tree trunk playing a flute, all beneath the moon, amongst bamboo, rockwork and cloud banks in a continuous scene between anhua bands, the base unglazed revealing the dense white biscuit body.
