Description
Blue and white moulded leaf shape dish on three bracket feet painted in the reverse technique in the form of a single leaf with central spine from which everted striped lines emit, painted with stylised water drops beneath a serrated edge.

- Included by Marchant in their exhibition of Ming Porcelain for the Japanese Market, 2008, no. 19a-e, pp. 42/3 (one of a set of five).
- An identical set of five are illustrated by Masahiko Kawahara in Ko-sometsuke, Colour Section, no. 169, pp. 216/7.
- This type of dish is meant to be used for fish in the meal after the tea ceremony. It is possible that the leaf is inspired by plantain.

£26,000Pair of Chinese porcelain blue and white wine ewers, each with rounded globular body, tall cylindrical tapered neck, with a relief flanged beneath the mouth and a dragon-head handle, painted with lobed lozenge form floral reserves amongst flower heads between similar borders, the neck with similar reserves on a net form ground, the handle with blue glazed open mouth dragon head and scrolling branches, terminating in a large leaf. The flat bases on glazed revealing the smooth white biscuit body.

£26,000Chinese porcelain blue and white wall pocket flower vase of fluted satchel form painted on the exterior in a continuous scene with a boy standing beside a giant crab between branches of bamboo, all beneath the moon and a lappet band at the rim, the reverse with a single orchid amongst long leaves, the rim unglazed, the reverse with a metalwork ring and button for hanging.
