Provenance & Additional Information

  • From the collection of Janice H. Palmer (1917-1984).
  • From the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago, accessioned in 1986.
  • Sold by Christie’s New York in their auction of Chinese Art from The Art Institute of Chicago, 17th September 2019, lot 63.
  • A similar pink enamel glaze appears on a vase, Yongzheng mark and period, is illustrated in The Complete Collection of the Palace Museum, vol. 37, Monochrome Porcelain, 1999, no. 31, pp. 34/5, where the author notes that this pink glaze is a new low-fired coloured glaze in the Yongzheng period and maybe the only example recorded and could have been experimental.
