A pair of Chinese porcelain famille rose octagonal plates each painted in the centre with a seated lady with high-piled hair and long flowing robes holding a fan in her left hand, looking down at two standing boys, one holding a book, a stool at her feet, a large vase behind her and a square table at her side with a bowl of finger citrons, a vase with coral branches, fern and lingzhi, beside tied books, all within a border of eight quatrefoil panels enclosing different flowering plants, all on a rich enamel pink ground, the undersides glazed white.
