Description

Large Chinese famille verte biscuit porcelain sancai openwork fruit-form pyramid scroll weight, zhizhen, on a quatrefoil-lobed integral stand, with extensive fruit in green, yellow, aubergine and black glazes, amongst large vine leaves, all on an openwork rock form ground, the sancai splashed base with everted, green-glazed rim, the base unglazed.

8 inches, 20.3 cm high.

Early Kangxi, circa 1680.

 

Provenance & Additional Information

  • From an important French private collection formed between 1924 and 1941.
  • Sold by Galerie Georges Petit, 1st April 1925.
  • This large group is illustrated in The Collection F. Allard, no. 367, pl. XVII and in the first cabinet view on the first black and white page.

Condition

Various chips, nibbles, leaves, fruit and branches re-touched and two flange chips restored, small chips to extremities.
