A Chinese imperial cloisonné censer, gui, with ogee ribbed body and gently flared lipped rim, decorated on the foot with six flower heads in red and yellow beneath a register with six blue flower heads and another six predominantly in red, all amongst scrolling branches on a turquoise ground, between stylised elephant head gilt handles with ruyi-head terminals, the base with an inset gilt tablet incised with a seven-character mark of Qianlong including the character zhu on a turquoise ground with scrolling branches, and of the period, 1736-1795.
