A Chinese porcelain min yao blue and white bowl, thinly potted with gently flared rim, painted on the exterior with two deer, two monkeys, and a pair of love birds perched on a branch, all on a continuous landscape with flowering plants, rockwork and terrace and fruiting peach tree, the interior painted in the well with a circular medallion of a recumbent horse amongst flames, the base with a six-character mark of Jiajing in underglaze blue and of the period 1522-1566.

*The style of the mark indicates that this bowl was produced towards the end of the Jiajing reign in the 1560’s.

Condition: fine, minute area of polish to rim.
