青花

从技术角度看，中国青花瓷器使用的是一种含氧化钴的色料。将纹样绘于白色胎体之上，再施以透明釉，经高温烧制而成，然而中国青花瓷的历史比工艺本身更具诗意。

青花瓷在中国制陶业丰富多彩的历史上有着特殊的意义，唐代（618-907）蓝彩就享有赞誉。但是直到蒙古人统治的元代（1279-1368），所谓的古青花烧制技术才逐渐成熟。

丝绸之路，贸易繁荣发展，中国开始从波斯进口钴料，这些钴料极其昂贵且稀少，必须谨慎用料，因其美感与稀缺性，中国古代青花瓷瓶、瓷碗和瓷盘另藏家们趋之若鹜。

元代工匠为他们的作品引以为豪，这些青花瓷的纹样多源于古代传说，甚至有宗教元素，藏于牛津大学阿什莫林博物馆的元青花麒麟纹大盘（藏品编号EAX.1707）是一个经典的范例。

中国青花瓷非常珍贵，通常只用于外交赠礼和特殊场合。
