Chinese jade black and white openwork pendant carved with a large black cicada, a pair of open-winged butterflies and a silkworm, amongst fruiting and leafy mulberry branches.

1 ¾ inches, 4.5 cm.

18th/19th century, circa 1800.

  • This remarkable pendant is skillfully carved using the two colours of the natural material, the serrated edges of the leaves and crosshatch workmanship of the mulberry berries is reminiscent of the Suzhou workshop.
