Description
Chinese porcelain semi-eggshell bowl and cover, painted in rich famille rose enamels, the bowl with three lozenge-shaped reserves of flowering chrysanthemum, tree peony and rose, all in luminous pink, turquoise, yellow, blue and red enamels framed with a blue and gilt lozenge, all on a geometric pink ground beneath a band of rope in gilt at the rim, the interior painted with a cockerel standing on pierced rock work amongst flowering peony, looking up at a butterfly in flight, beneath a green diaper band on the upright rim, the cover similarly painted with three floral reserves on a pink diaper and green-bordered ground.
The base with a six-character mark of Yongzheng in underglaze blue, within a double ring and of the period, 1723-1735.
4 5/8 inches, 11.7 cm diameter.
Condition
Excellent condition, tiny natural fire flaws on cover central area.
