Description
Chinese porcelain underglaze blue ko-akai, wucai small dish, with flat everted rim, painted in the centre with a large white rabbit looking back on an underglaze blue-wash border between fruiting lingzhi fungus and daisies beneath a couplet with the characters ‘Ma Yuan’ within a rectangle and the moon beneath a crenelated border at the rim.

Overall excellent condition, without chips, cracks or restorations, the rim with mushikui.

£35,000Chinese ceramic Ding ware ingot-form pillow, zhen, moulded on the exterior, the gently sloping concave top incised and glazed in white with flowers forming a cash motif on a clear-glazed tan ground, each larger side with a relief recumbent stag between branches of buds, one side within a jewelled border, the other within a cross-hatched border, the smaller sides with stylised flowers, buds and leaves, the unglazed flat biscuit base pierced with an air hole revealing the high-fired body.
8 inches, 20.3 cm long; 5 inches, 12.8 cm deep; 4 inches, 10.2 cm high.

£23,500Large Chinese porcelain blue and white serving dish with needle point foliate rim, hariki, brightly painted with large magpies and squirrels amongst the ‘three friends of winter’, sanyou, pine prunus and bamboo, the squirrels clambering amongst fruiting vine branches beneath a scrolling branch of flowers and a brown dressed foliate rim, the underside with birds perched on a continuous branch of flowering prunus.
The base with a six-character mark of Jiajing and a square fu mark, happiness, in underglaze blue within a double ring.
Late Ming, Tianqi/Chongzhen circa 1630.
Together with original Edo period Japanese wood box.
