The catalogue of Transitional Wares for the Japanese and Domestic Markets comprises of 129 pieces of Chinese porcelain and accompanied our exhibition in June 1989. Notable pieces include a kosometsuke saucer dish with figures in boats beneath poem, seven groups of mukozuke, two transitional sleeve vases with figures and poems, a large transitional brushpot with figures and buffaloes, a transitional “washing the elephant” brushpot, a large transitional proto yanyan with kingfishers and lotus, two early Kangxi imperial saucer dishes with immortals, 31 ko-akai dishes, a wucai five-tier picnic box with crane medallions, a wucai dragon sleeve vase and a Kangxi famille verte biscuit ink stone.
