Description
Chinese biscuit porcelain aubergine-glazed teapot and cover of bamboo form with fluted naturalistic body, handle and spout, the cover with an openwork bamboo branch-form handle, the flat base unglazed.
5 ¾ inches, 14.6 cm handle to spout; 3 ¾ inches, 9.5 cm high.
Kangxi, 1662-1722.

- An almost identical teapot in green glaze is illustrated by Luísa Vinhais and Jorge Welsh in Biscuit Reftned Chinese Famille Verte Wares, 40, pp. 150-153; three famille verte biscuit teapots of similar form are illustrated by R.L. Hobson, C.B. in the Catalogue of the Leonard Gow Collection of Chinese Porcelain, nos. 280 and 272, pp. 76/74, pl. LXXX and LXIX; another was included by Marchant in their exhibition of Imperial Chinese Porcelain, Ceramics and Works of Art, no. 18, pp. 40/41.

£28,000Chinese ceramic Ding ware cream glazed dish, pan, with flat base, short inverted foot and gently rounded sides, carved with a single lotus flower spray on a branch with leaves fitting neatly in the well with an incised outline, the flower and leaves with double and single outlines creating a three-dimensional effect, covered overall in a pale cream glaze gently pooling above the foot and creating a tear mark, the rim bound in copper.
