Description
Chinese famille verte, sancai, biscuit porcelain joss-stick holder, modelled as the laughing twins, He He Erxian, one standing wearing a green glazed robe holding a lotus flower left in the biscuit, the other kneeling and wearing aubergine robes holding a box, the cover left in the biscuit, all on an hexagonal raised rectangular base moulded on the front with a relief lotus flower on a cash ground between two moulded Chinese characters in relief in yellow glaze, He and He, the base unglazed.

- Purchased from either Cie Tonying, Paris, 17th October 1928 or Pierre Saqué, 3rd April 1929.
Condition
Two leaf tips restored, base flaw and flake re-touched.

£5,500Pair of Chinese porcelain famille verte saucer dishes each with chrysanthemum fluted body and foliate rim, painted with different pairs of birds with one in flight and one perched amongst flowering branches of prunus and camellia, beneath a border with butterflies and flowering plants including chrysanthemum, peony, aster and prunus on a seed green ground, the underside plain, the base with a zhi mark within a double square and a double ring.

£6,850A Chinese porcelain famille verte rectangular tea caddy and cover, painted with lotus leaves, flower-heads, aquatic plants and a rhizome, beneath iron-red insects in flight the reverse with flowering chrysanthemum, pierced rockwork with a butterfly and insects in flight, the two shorter sides each with flowering branches of morning glory, the shoulder with aster flowers, branches and rockwork, all the panels outlined with a green glazed frame and supported on four raised bracket feet, the cover with peony and camellia.
