Description
Chinese imperial porcelain lemon-yellow ground underglaze blue decorated deep stem bowl, gao zu bei, with gently flared lipped rim and ribbed splayed foot, painted on the exterior with three fruiting branches of peach, pomegranate and finger citron, sanduo, all above lingzhi dispersed between panels of flowering camellia branches each with a bud above lingzhi, the splayed foot with crested waves. The well of the interior with a fruiting peach branch above lingzhi within two underglaze blue lines beneath a band of crested and swirling waves and prunus flowerheads all on a lemon-yellow ground.
The inside of the foot rim with a six-character sealmark of Qianlong in underglaze blue written in a line and of the period, 1736-1795.

Provenance & Additional Information
- From the collection of Russell Tyson (1867-1973).
- Born in Shanghai, Russell M. Tyson moved with his family to Boston where he graduated from Harvard College in 1890. In 1893 he joined a real estate firm, Aldis & Co., where he advanced to senior partner. He became a trustee of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1925, and later Honorary Vice President for life. In 1958, one of the Institute’s Oriental galleries was named in his honour. He was a great philanthropist and supported many hospitals and the American Red Cross. In 1940, he headed the Chicago Committee for aid to China.

- No other yellow ground example appears recorded.
- A cabinet of imperial yellow ground underglaze blue decorated pieces of the Yongzheng and Qianlong reigns are in the Baur Collection, Geneva; nine pieces are illustrated by John Ayers in Chinese Ceramics in the Baur Collection, Volume 2, Geneva, 1999, 208-216, pp. 88-97.
- The Three Abundances, sanduo, are usually illustrated as the finger citron (Buddha’s hand), fushou, the peach, tao, and the pomegranate, shiliu, and form the wish for blessings, long life and many The addition of lingzhi is a further symbol of longevity.

Overall in excellent condition, without any chips,crcaks,or restoration.
