Chinese porcelain blue and white deep saucer dish of shonzui style with fluted body, hariki petal-shape needle-point rim, painted on a blue ground with two phoenix birds, one standing beside a tree with peony blossom, rockwork, fruiting lingzhi and three precious objects, the other phoenix behind the rock looking back at its mate, encircled by six ruyi-head lappets of aster, camellia and magnolia, all beneath a brown-dressed rim, the underside with a continuous branch of morning glory flowers and buds, the base with a six-character mark of Chenghua within a double ring.

Chinese porcelain blue and white shonzui-type faceted decagonal bottle vase of double-gourd form, tokuri, with each facet fluted and ribbed and painted with geometric designs including interlocking keyfret, scrolls, wan-characters, interlaced cash, plum blossom flowers on hexagonal blue ground, weave-pattern, ‘chess-board’, diamonds and flowerhead diaper, between a keyfret band at a narrow waist, the flat unglazed base with short foot rim revealing the fine white biscuit body, the rim slightly reduced with old metalwork fitting.

Chinese porcelain famille rose export “Mandarin” pattern erotic punch bowl, painted with ladies seated on rock work in landscape scene with their attendants, beside a river landscape with a village in the background, the other side with standing figures and further seated figures beside buildings, dispersed between reserves of pink flower heads and gilt ground, the underside with a satyr in an erotic scene with a naked lady, with a daybed and curtains, with a winged cherub leaving the scene and a bird underneath observing the scene, the interior with a floral sprays, beneath a spearhead border.

Chinese porcelain blue and white ginger jar and cover, painted in the reverse technique with a blue crackled ice ground, with sprays of white prunus flower heads beneath a band of scrolls at the shoulder, the cover similarly decorated.

One Hundred Years is more than just a chronicle of the Marchant past; it is a celebration of their enduring passion for Chinese art.

Blanc de Chine, the luminous white ceramic revered for its delicate beauty, will be presented for the fifth time since the gallery's 60th Anniversary exhibition in 1985.

Kosometsuke, the captivating blue and white Ming dynasty porcelain ware for the Japanese market, is the focus for a third dedicated exhibition at Marchant. The kosometsuke pieces display a diverse selection of blue and white wares, including rare dishes, imaginative vessels, and captivating scenes on tea ceremony pieces. The exhibition is particularly interesting because it has been assembled over almost 25 years.
