Description
Pair of Chinese famille verte biscuit porcelain standing figures of Cao Guojiu holding an ingot, his hair tied up in two buns and a figure of He Xiangu holding a branch of lingzhi with a ruyi-head, each with a green jacket, yellow skirt and aubergine pierced rockwork raised bases, the detailed faces and hands with clear glaze.
6 ¾ inches, 17.2 cm high.
Kangxi, 1662-1722.
Wood stand.

- From an important French private collection formed between 1924 and 1941.
- Purchased from Pierre Saqué, 12 Avenue George V, Paris, 3rd April 1929, with labels.
- Four similar figures from the Collection M. F. Allard are illustrated and were sold by Galerie Georges Petit, 1st April 1925, nos. 373 & 374, pp. 24/25, plate XV.
Condition
Male figure with tip of ingot restored, the other figure with left fingers, thumb and lower part of branch in hand restored, ruyi-head re-touched, both with natural glaze gaps on back.
